Christmas-y Ideas for a Fun and Fabulous Winter Date

Just because it's cold outside, doesn't mean you can't have a great date!

It’s winter and it’s cold out, but we must keep dating! Going on dates around Christmas time is the best because you’ll have to cuddle a little to stay warm. And there are so many things to do! Whether you want to brave the outside or stay in, here are a bunch of fun ideas for a date night during the winter.

Christmas Lights

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t enjoy Christmas lights. Christmas lights warm you up! And how fun are they? Lights that are simply hung along the edges of a house are so simplistic yet so good-looking. People go all out and it was always a super fun activity as a kid, and still, to drive around and see Christmas lights each season. This is such a fun date because your warm in the car, driving around, and looking at something fun. You could park somewhere and walk, too. There is nothing better than walking around in the crisp Midwestern winter air, as long as it’s not too cold and windy that is.

Watch Christmas Movies

Sick of the cold already? Hate the snow? Stay in! Get a whole bunch of Cheesy, feel good Christmas movies, make date snacks, and get cozy for a night of seasonal flicks. Some great ones are Four Christmases, Serendipity, and Home Alone.

Make Christmas Cookies

Date nights in the kitchen are always fun, and around the holidays, it feels really festive to be cooking with your people. And what’s better than whipping up some sweets with your sweetie? If you’re feeling really cook-like, make homemade sugar cookie dough, and bake it off. (If not, you can always buy some pre-made from the grocery store.) Get some frosting, jimmies, sprinkles, festive sprinkles like snowflakes and Christmas trees, or whatever’s your favorite. Just because you’re cooking during Christmas time doesn’t mean you have to make them Christmas themed! (But in my opinion it’s more fun and celebratory to do them themed, so maybe you should.)

Go Ice Skating

After all, it is winter. Even if you live in the south, the season is technically winter and Christmas will be here before we know it! Ice skating is the winteriest of dates, even if you don’t skate outside. But if you are outside and it happens to be snowing lightly and you are skating, kudos to you. You are in the middle of a romance movie and you’re killing it. Seriously though. Even if you fall, skating is fun enough to do once a year and really enjoy it. You can hold hands and even dance skate, if you’re talented enough.

Decorate or Make Something Festive

This can be really easy and fun. Get crafty and decorate for the season! Cover pinecones in glue and glitter and go buy some shiny Christmas lights and hang them. Nothing is better than Christmas lights, (see Christmas Lights above,) Decorating for Christmas has always been my favorite. The lights are so festive and I’ve always had a family tradition of gifting ornaments. This makes the Christmas tree personalized and I love that. Don’t forget to decorate with all the sparkly things. It is Christmas, and I love the sparkly things.

So many people love Christmas and it’s their favorite holiday of the year. There are tons of Christmas party dates to enjoy and even work parties. But the best dates are just you and them, and these are all great dates for the winter.
