How to Show Her You’re Different from Other Guys

Guys these days seem to have forgotten some of the more important aspects of dating, like being a gentleman, always being respectful, and generally being a good and decent person. Tons of ladies, women, and girls out there are sick of dating the same basic dudes over and over – you know the kind: the guys with big trucks, bigger egos, and no common sense.

It’s time to show the special lady (or guy! That’s cool too) in your life that you’re different from the rest of them.

Here are a few surefire tricks you can use to show your genuine, sensitive side when out on the dating market.

Invest in gifts

One of the easiest ways that you can make a solid impression right off the bat is by investing in sweet gifts for your petite amie. It can be something as simple as showing up to dinner at her place with a bottle of wine, or buying a souvenir if you go on a date to somewhere fun together.

If you’ve already been on a few dates and you’re really trying to set yourself apart, you can even have something sent to her place as a surprise; for instance, you can get flowers delivered today and make a serious impression with a sweet and lovely surprise.

If her birthday or a gift-giving holiday is coming up, don’t be afraid to pull out all the stops. Nothing shows investment in a relationship like a fun, creative, and unforgettable birthday experience.

Always show respect

Something a lot of guys forget about in the dating game these days is being respectful to their significant other. They’re so focused on whether they can “score” or “get laid” or “hit a slam dunk” that they forget that the person they’re seeing is a real live flesh-and-blood human being who deserves respect.

How can you show respect? It goes beyond gentlemanly gestures like holding doors open and pulling out chairs for your date – though those can go a long way, too. It also means always asking for consent, always checking in with your partner, and always looking for a compromise whenever you find yourself in a tricky disagreement. If you’re not ready to be a respectful partner, then you’re just not ready to date.

Meet her friends and introduce her to yours

This goes hand-in-hand with being respectful. Something that can truly set you apart from the other blokes, fellas, lads, and bros is by being eager and willing to meet up with her friends. After all, if you end up in a relationship, you’ll probably be spending plenty of time with them.

Guess what? The reverse is actually true too. You should always allow your main lady to meet your crew. And, you know what else? If you’re embarrassed for her to meet them because they are crass, vulgar, and disrespectful to ladies, they might be too immature for you now.

When it comes time, you should also be happy and willing to meet her parents. After all, especially if you’re planning on being together for a while, having a relationship with your SO’s parents is kind of just part of the whole game.

Don’t be afraid to talk about feelings

A lot of dudes – and, seriously, we mean a lot – are afraid to talk about their feelings. They think it makes them “unmanly” or “a proper tragic saddo” or even “hella lame.” News flash: talking about your feelings is important, whether you’re a guy, a girl, genderqueer, gender-fluid, or non-binary. In fact, being in therapy is the new being tall – it’s what all the ladies want from a guy.

Talking about feelings isn’t just emotionally healthy. It’s also practical. For instance, if you don’t talk about your feelings, you might be sitting here thinking that your new gal-pal is endgame material but little do you know that she only sees you as a casual fling. There’s nothing wrong with a casual fling, of course, but both of you should know what you’re in for; hence, talk about feelings.

Focus on her fun

This last tip is, in many ways, the simplest: just focus on your SO’s fun! Too many guys out there only care about themselves having a good time; break away from the pack by focusing on making sure your special someone has a good time.

With these tips, tricks, and pieces of advice in-hand, you’re sure to make a strong impression.
