When it comes to having fun in the bedroom, you may not think about the aesthetics of the room in terms of having an effect on your sex life. However, the reality is that there are some ways that you can turn a bedroom that might be considered lackluster into a sexy retreat that allows both of you to have a really good time.
While sexual activities don’t have to happen in the bedroom, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be ready just in case. There are plenty of mood killers and the last thing you want is to lose the sexy, passionate mood that has been inspired.
Plus, if you find that things are not running smoothly in the bedroom, it may not have anything to do with you (even though that is often where our minds go first). Instead, it could just be that you need to switch things up and the best way to do this is to switch things up in the bedroom.
Ways to Turn Your Bedroom Into a Sexy Place to Have Fun
1. Eliminate Any Distraction
The last thing you want when you are about to have sex with your partner are distractions. Whether this means creating a rule that cellphone notifications get turned off and phones are only to be answered if it is an emergency or by removing the television from the bedroom. There are many different types of distractions and they often involve technology. Eliminating these distractions will allow the mood to continue and the focus will stay exactly where it belongs, on each other.
2. Avoid White
White is a very pristine color and while it might look clean, it can also spoil the mood, especially if you go with white bedding. The last thing you want are stains, and depending on the kind of person you are, it can even make you feel anxious at just the thought of the potential mess.
Sex is about getting down and dirty and white and other pale colors, such as cream and baby soft colors can ruin the mood when it comes to getting raw and passionate. Instead, opt for colors that won’t make you worry about stains, as well as colors that give you that sexy vibe.
3. Lighting Can Be Critical
The right kind of lighting can be extremely important when it comes to setting the mood. The worst thing you can have in the bedroom is fluorescent lights. Not only are these lights very harsh and bright, but the will kill the mood. Instead, opt for softer lighting. While you need some light, the last thing you want is the kind of harsh light that exposes every flaw, whether real or imagined, because then your insecurities will be at the forefront and you won’t be able to enjoy yourself.
4. Add Texture to the Room
Texture helps to heighten the senses and if you can find a way to incorporate new textures into the bedroom, you will be able to add to the sensations experienced during sex. While there is no right or wrong answer when it comes to textures, soft and satin can be the best choices for a good time. Maybe try satin sheets, add a feather pillow, or even get a velvety-soft throw blanket. These different textures will add to the pleasure and make time in the bedroom even more enjoyable.
5. Have a Good Mattress
Make sure your mattress isn’t over eight years old. While the bed you sleep on is a personal preference, remember that the older the mattress, the less support you have. Having a mattress is about more than sex, it is about a good night’s sleep and feeling like you can conquer the world.
6. Keep the Bedroom a Bedroom
If you have office space in your bedroom, this can be a mood killer as work will always be on your mind when you look at the desk. While there are certainly plenty of fantasies that revolve around a solid desk, it doesn’t mean you always want to incorporate that desk into your play time.
If at all possible, try and keep the bedroom as your bedroom and lose the office. While it may not always be feasible, at least make sure it always cleaned up and it doesn’t look like you are about to jump out of bed and do a report right then and there.
7. Avoid Lots of Family Pictures
It is nice to have pictures of the family and your friends, however, the last thing you want while having sex is for you or your partner to get distracted by all of the eyes looking at you. The last thing anyone wants is to be staring at a picture of their mother or father while they are about to have an orgasm.
8. Keep Your Room Clean
While this should be an easy, no-brainer thing, keeping your room clean is the best way to promote a healthy sex life. No one is saying that the room has to be spotless but keeping things tidy shows that you care about hygiene.
9. Add Mirrors
Mirrors can be extremely sexy, especially when you incorporate them into your sexual activities. You don’t need to have floor to ceiling mirrors either, simply having a standing mirror in the corner of your room is all you need. Watching yourself have sex in the mirror can be extremely hot and will definitely set off sparks.
10. Add Extra Pillows to the Bed
Not only can extra pillows be part of your texture experience, but extra pillows can scream sexy. Pillows are all about comfort and more pillows mean that you are set for a relaxing bedroom experience.
11. Include Personality
You have a personality and your bedroom should reflect that. What makes you feel sexy? Whatever it is, that is what you should have in your bedroom. This is your sanctuary and the only way you are going to have a good time is if you are comfortable, happy, and of course, represented in your own space.
Have fun with revamping your bedroom. Whatever you do, make sure your bedroom is inviting and makes you feel like a place where you want to have a good time.
