Top 10 songs that will boost your confidence before seeing that guy you told your friends about.
It’s almost that time – you just got out the shower, your skin is smooth after a clean shave, and your hair smells good; you’ve got your punani freshened up, your nails and toes done, and your outfit laid out on the bed (along with those heels you saved for this perfect occasion).
BUT WAIT – you’re not quite feeling confident as you stand there over thinking that outfit you chose or wondering whether your shirt matches the color of your shoes.
Ladies, we’ve all been there. Maybe you can’t quite get in the mood because of a bad day, or you’re struggling to achieve that perfect cat eye wing. Don’t let those temporary uncertainties boil over: turn on some music and shake off those insecurities!
I’ve asked over 200 women between the ages of 18-30 for their favorite song to blast while beautifying their appearance. These songs are in no specific order, but these hits should make it to your self-prep playlist!
1. "Bodak Yellow"- Cardi B
There’s no denying that Cardi B’s hyped hit "Bodak Yellow" will boost your self-esteem before you’re even dressed.
Women dig this track for its realness, unfiltered lyrics, powerful hook, and the boldness in Cardi’s voice as she praises herself and talks down to people who have underestimated her.
This is that single that will remind you that a humble woman needs to stunt when she’s given the opportunity – and a date is a great way to walk your runway.
Ladies, if you need a push to get you feeling like a boss, blast this song, rap your lungs out, and before you know it, you will be making money moves out the door.
Feel beautiful for your next date, and as Cardi would say, “don’t be bothered with these hoes”… just be you!
2. "Wild Thoughts"- DJ Khaled feat. Rihanna & Bryson Tiller
"Wild Thoughts" has become one of the most favorite songs of summer 2017, which is why this song landed on this playlist.
The women who suggested this song explained that they loved how Rihanna makes having wild thoughts acceptable and copulationy.
Many of us have first date jitters, especially when we start thinking about what will happen as the date is coming to an end.
Let this song inspire you to think about intimacy on your terms. Rihanna and Bryson Tiller do a great job at making listeners feel comfortable in their skin, accepting themselves and whatever “wild thoughts” they might have.
So ladies, if your nerves are taking over as you’re getting ready, blast this song to tame them. Don’t be afraid of those thoughts. Let them run wild.
3. "CRZY"- Kehlani
Kehlani was consistently mentioned by the beautiful women who contributed their opinions in creating this pre-date playlist.
Referring to her as a “bad bitch,” women admire her unique style and spiritual strength, and this track captures these qualities as it sums up the struggles in her life.
We all have those dreadful days where we can’t seem to find one thing that we love about ourselves, but this song will change that.
Blasting this dope track will serve as your reminder that you have the ability to go crazy (and drive your date crazy) as you dress to slay.
Forget what upset you or who lowered your self-esteem. Switch it up and strut like the real woman you are. Make your date question where YOU came from!
4. Goddess- Chad B
Women can’t get enough of that Jersey sound, as Chad B’s song "Goddess" racked up votes for this pre-date playlist.
From his new album "Ear Candy," this song is one that women love to blast when they want to vibe to pop music with a hyped twerking tempo. Before you know it, you’ll be listening to the whole album as you’re applying your makeup.
“It’s all about the vibes,” as Chad would say, and that is exactly what the women are attracted to. Ladies, if you enjoy shaking some ass as you’re getting dressed, add this hit to your beauty playlist.
Embrace the goddess you are as you groove to a bouncy, melodic, and copulationy beat! It’s guaranteed that you’ll be leaving your house thinking, “I’m about to have a whole boyfriend after this date.”
5. "Fetish"- Selena Gomez feat. Gucci Mane
Selena’s new hit "Fetish" is exactly what you need to hear to remind you what you have to offer. This song copulationily represents self-confidence and has earned its right on this playlist!
We hear Gomez transitioning into a different woman as she sings this song. This anthem to her growth will appeal to women who are looking for a change, whether it is by themselves or with their physical appearance.
Change can be a great thing, and the ideas of change and self-improvement can hint at a great date to come. Allow this song to shed a positive light on things you don’t like about yourself as you intensify your physical beauty.
6. "Into You"- Ariana Grande
Knowing how you feel about your date is a beautiful thing, but sometimes those feelings can be overwhelming.
Ariana Grande makes her appearance on this playlist with her hit song "Into You." From her third album "Dangerous Woman," this song can easily bring out the flirt in you.
We all need that boost in feeling confident as we are getting ready for a date. Whether it is the first date or the fifth, you will start feeling gorgeous as you sing your heart out, especially if you’re hoping for your date to make the first move.
7. "Feeling Myself"- Nicki Minaj feat. Beyoncé
No pre-date playlist is complete without Barbie and the lovely Queen B. These two divas made this list with their second collaboration "Feeling Myself."
The title of this record signifies what this playlist is all about, so it had to be mentioned. Every aspect of this song will have you feeling yourself as it alternates between hard rap lyrics and a seductive hook from two of our most favorite fierce women.
Take control of how you feel about yourself when you play this song. When you hear how B stops the world, carry on with your beautiful self!
8. "Tu No Metes Cabra"- Bad Bunny
Bad Bunny made the pre-date playlist for all of our beautiful Hispanic women who like to vibe to some Latin trap music.
Originating from Puerto Rico, Bad Bunny’s music has flourished in the U.S., gradually elevating him to his status as a successful Hispanic rapper.
The women I spoke to frequently mentioned this song as a must play when getting ready for any special occasion.

9. "Unforgettable (Freestyle)"- PNB Rock
One thing we women love to feel is unforgettable. Women noted that this freestyle was their go-to choice when they couldn’t get a man’s sensual voice out of their ears.
Although it is short, you will want to put this freestyle on replay as you strut your stuff in front of the mirror. Lyrically, it will have you caught up in singing to yourself as you take in all of your copulationiness.
This is how we want to feel, and blasting this song will help get that feeling pumping!
10. R&B of the 2000s
Of course, I had to save the best for last, which is R&B hits from the late 2000s.
For all the women living the glamorous life with an old soul, you are not alone! The majority of the women I spoke to confirmed that they would start their pre-date playlist with a classic R&B song to get them going.
These include songs like Ashanti’s "Happy", Mario’s "Let Me Love You", Fantasia’s "When I See U", Lloyd’s "You", Aaliyah’s "Rock the Boat", Jennifer Lopez’s "Love Don’t Cost a Thing", Rihanna’s "If It’s Lovin’ That You Want", Neyo’s "Miss Independent", and more.
