With the end of the year comes that one special night we all celebrate. We rejoice over our accomplishments. Embrace each other over our losses. Together we look to the year ahead and raise our glasses. As the clock strikes midnight, we turn to give our last kiss. Give yourself a romantic start to your year. Keep those New Years sparks burning.

They say that how we spend New Years, is how we will spend the rest of the year. Looking back I could argue both ways for most of my New Years. I think the real point is to do something that reminds you of how you want to spend the year to come. It’s through ritualistic celebrations that traditions are created. They turn one night activities into yearly routines. Maybe your New Year plans won’t put a spell on the rest of the year. That doesn’t mean they can’t help. The right idea can lead to a romantic start to your year. So if you want 2019 to be filled with…

Romantic Nights In With Your Love

Want more romantic nights in with your partner? Plan out a big romantic dinner for you both to cook together. Spend the last night of the year working on a project together. When it’s all over enjoy the spoils of your labor. Savor the delicious meal you both created (check out our eats section for meal suggestions)! When you’ve cleared every crumb from your plate lay a blanket in front of a fire. The perfect romantic start to your year. Drink champagne cuddled in each other’s arms and don’t have just one New Years kiss.

Regular Date Nights

If you’re looking to start a date night ritual, there’s no better night, then the last night of the year. Don’t just go on any old date night either. Go to the kind of restaurant that you both have to dress up nice for. Go to the restaurant you’ve been thinking about going to – the one with that particular dish you can’t get anywhere else. Go out-of-town if you have to. Make it somewhere you’ve never been before. Don’t make it the end of the date either. Attend a play or watch a ballet when dinner is over. Then head to a jazz bar for a nightcap. Dance slowly in your partner’s arms. Cheers to the New Year and soak in the romantic setting as you embrace in your last kiss. The perfect romantic start to your year.

More Nights Out Dancing

Romance doesn’t have to be over a candlelit dinner in a small restaurant on a beautiful street. It can be found anywhere that brings you and your partner closer together. If what you both love is incredible music and dancing the night away—do it. That’s your perfect romantic start to your year. Join friends at your favorite club, or go just the two of you to a special show. Seeing your favorite artist and commiserating over the way a piece of music moves the both of you can be your ultimate romance. Just make sure that wherever you do your dancing you scope out a romantic spot for that midnight kiss. If it’s a clear night out and the dance lights don’t block the moon a balcony might be the perfect place to kiss 2018 away.

Adventures and Travel

Want next year to be filled with travel adventures with your love? Head to Aspen and spend your New Years weekend nestled up in a cozy cabin. Explore the mountains. Hit the slopes. Drink hot toddies by the hotel fireplace. Check out the scores of delicious restaurants in Aspens foodie scene. The great thing about Aspen is the juxtaposition between rustic outdoor activities and the luxurious offerings of the city. You can go from a hike in the woods, or doing board slides on the slopes to a five-star restaurant followed by a show at the opera. If that’s not enough check out this list New Years Eve activities in Aspen. It’s the perfect romantic start to your year.
